Yasmin
Brown is a self-taught artist who has been creating since childhood.
With the dream of attending art school dashed by pragmatism, she
put down her brushes and moved into the world of high finance. She
moved to Pennsylvania in 1996 with her husband and began a new career
as a stay-at-home mom raising their three children.
When her youngest child was 4 months old she picked
up a pencil and sketched a picture of him as he slept. Much to her
delight, after nearly 20 years of creative repression, the picture
was recognizable. That pencil led her to a brush & voila, her
career as an artist was born!
Yasmin’s mediums include charcoal, watercolor, and acrylic.
She enjoys a full range of painting styles which enables her to cross-pollinate
ideas & techniques with mediums & styles. While she paints
portraits tightly to capture the likeness of the subject; she also
delights in using impressionism to cull the essence of a still life
or for capturing spiritual subjects such as the feminine divine.
Yasmin has had the good fortune to work with various
local artists including Barbara Fishman, Larry Lombardo, Eva Bender,
Jean Wertz & Seamus Carmichael. She feels blessed to live in
such a richly-talented, supportive artist community. A member of
the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts, Goggleworks Center for the Arts, Perry County Arts Council, and the Hershey Area Art Association
she has had her art displayed in Lebanon, Lancaster, Perry & Dauphin
Counties & has won several awards.
In addition to painting, Yasmin works with dichroic
glass & precious metals to create one-of-a-kind jewelry and
decorative house wares. She loves to use art as a way to capture the wonder of life.
Yasmin’s hope is that the owner of her art gets
as much joy from it as she received during its creation.
